Lois
In loving memory of Lois, whose spotty paws brought joy to each and every person she encountered.
Lois was adopted from HSFC in September 2016 by my sister, Julia, after a long history of abuse. After learning to trust Julia, the two went on countless adventures together, and Lois was Julia’s faithful companion while she went to school for her doctoral degree. Lois loved cuddling, playing fetch, frolicking in the grass, and sticking her nose out of the car window – but most of all, she loved Julia.
We are so grateful to HSFC for uniting two souls that were meant to be together – one little spotty dog and her crazy human. We know Lois is up in the sky munching on treats, taking naps throughout the afternoon, and zooming around a flower garden. Her memory lives on in the hearts of us all.
With all our love,
Emma, Molly, Oliver, and Elliot
Maggie
November 28, 2012 to May 3, 2021
Maggie was the best birthday present anyone ever received! From the day she joined our family, Maggie was a constant source of love and joy. She instinctively knew that her role in life was to be a source of love and she gave it generously to everyone she met. Maggie was the epitome of a golden retriever, always sweet, kind, gentle and patient. She never hurt another creature. God made no gentler or more loving dog.
Maggie was a loyal friend, faithful companion and happy playmate, whether running on the beach or playing in the snow. She always wanted to be with you and was sad when apart. Maggie gave so much and asked for so little – love, a tummy rub, a cuddle and her favorite treat, popcorn. We miss our sweet Maggie very much, but we know she is waiting for us on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge and playing with her friends Andy, Inca and Nutmeg.
Rocko
We are making a donation to the Humane Society of Fairfax County in loving memory of our dog Rocko, who lost his battle with cancer on May 4, 2016.
We adopted Rocko, a Labrador-Mastiff mix, from the HSFC shelter on Nov. 13, 2009, after being told about him by our friend Jessica, who was volunteering at the shelter at the time. Adopting him was one of the best decisions we ever made.
Rocko was big, lazy and stubborn, and he brought us joy every single day for 6 1/2 years. He loved eating, sunbathing, trying to be a lapdog, and being chased around the house with a squeaky toy in his mouth. We are heartbroken he is gone, but very grateful to the HSFC for the opportunity to have had him as a member of our family and to have loved him. He will remain in our hearts forever.

Gracie
This donation is memory of our little Gracie who passed over the Rainbow bridge December 22nd. We had to help her with the journey but we did not want to see her struggle and suffer.
My wife and kids got her at the shelter in July 2001. She was our first and only dog. She became daddy’s girl and just a wonderful family member. We rescued her from the Fairfax Animal shelter in July 2001. Although a lot of tears flowed and will continue to flow, she gave us over 14 years of love and joy. We take comfort in knowing she is not in pain and playing with her doggies buddies who are already across the bridge. We have great memories and know she is at peace and with her friends.

Petey
No longer by our side, forever in our heart.
We adopted Petey from the Humane Society 14 years ago, when he was just a small puppy. From the second we met him, we fell in love. His bright eyes, happy personality and loving heart brought us joy every single day. We are so lucky to have shared our lives for 14 years. Ours are infinitely richer, thanks to Petey.
