Our Mission
The mission of the Humane Society of Fairfax County, Inc. is to promote humane education, to prevent all forms of cruelty to animals, both domestic and wild, by every legitimate means, and to assist the community with all matters pertaining to the welfare of animals.
About the Humane Society of Fairfax County, Inc. (HSFC)
Founded in 1965, HSFC has been making a difference in the lives of animals for over 50 years. We are a no kill animal rescue organization that takes in and finds homes for abused and unwanted dogs, cats, horses, and other animals that need care.
We direct resources toward helping victims of cruelty, neglect or abandonment. We also take in animals from local kill shelters when space is available.
HSFC provides rehabilitation and professional dog training to animals in our care, as well as medical services through our Veterinary Mobile Clinic and at local veterinarian hospitals.
Our Ani-Meals Pet Food Pantry offers free dog and cat food and supplies to Fairfax County residents in need.
HSFC’s Feral Cat Program helps control the numbers of homeless cats through our TrapNeuterRelease project. By preventing overpopulation, we save thousands of helpless cats from suffering and death.
HSFC works with local schools, civic groups, neighborhood community associations, scout troops, and other organizations to provide humane education and promote the welfare of all animals.
