This is a fun project for scout troops and young volunteers who want to help our organization and the animals in our care. It doesn’t take a lot of time, can be done anytime of the year and everyone can set their own time frame to do it.
First we have the volunteers take the Humane Society’s wish list and our HSFC information flyer around to their neighbors or anywhere else they wish to distribute this list. They let the homeowner know they will be back the next weekend, or whatever date you decide, to collect any donations they have to give to the Humane Society.
When returning to collect the items donated the volunteers give, anyone who donates, a signed donation receipt so they can use the donations as a tax write off to charity.
Finally, the volunteers or scout troops brings the donations collected to the Humane Society of Fairfax County offices at the address below.
You will need to come to our offices before starting your neighborhood drive and collect our information flyer, our wish list and copies of our signed donation receipt. Please make sure to call ahead and let our office manager know when you will be coming so she has time to make up the packets for you.
We thank you for helping our organization, and on behalf of all the animals, we thank you very, very much.
